Coffee. I’m not a huge fan, but many of my friends drink a lot of this stuff. They drink it for a couple reasons – they like the taste and it keeps them awake. Caffeine.
My mom, though, drinks decaffeinated coffee. It looks like coffee, it tastes like coffee, and it seems like coffee. Well, until an hour later when you’re falling asleep because it isn’t regular coffee – it doesn’t have that kick.
I’ve seen this in the church. We look like Christians, we act like Christians, we smell like Christians; We walk the walk, we talk the talk, but an hour later, we’re falling down on the floor wondering why we aren’t making it.
God wants more from us than just acts – we can all be good actors and actresses with a little bit of work. Can we all be passionate? I want passion. I want fire. I want to know and serve my God. I don’t want to be a “decaffeinated” Christian.
